How to: Create a deferred print job on a laptop.
Solution:
Click the 'Start' menu, select 'Settings', and select 'Printers'. Right-click the appropriate printer icon and select 'Work Offline' or 'Pause Printing'. Print the desired document(s).
NOTE 1: Printing a file from any application stores the file in the printer spool until the printer is connected and the appropriate menu item has been cleared.
NOTE 2: Some printers have proprietary printer configurations and may have different spooling controls. Consult the printer owner's manual for the proper procedure.
1) Set the portable or laptop computer printer properties:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Printers'. (The 'Printers' window appears.)
c) Right-click the appropriate printer icon. (A pop-up menu appears.)

d) Do one of the following:
1] If the portable/laptop computer is set to print to a network printer, select 'Work Offline'.
2] If the portable/laptop computer is set to print to a local printer, select 'Pause Printing'.
NOTE: Selecting 'Work Offline' or 'Pause Printing' toggles selected print option on or off. The selected option is turned ON if a check mark appears to the left of the menu item. The selected print option is turned OFF if there is no check mark to the left of the menu item.
2) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to exit the 'Printers' window.
3) Open the document to be saved to the printer spool.
4) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Print'. (The document is stored in the printer spool, and remains there even if the portable/laptop computer is turned off.)
5) Once the computer is attached to a network or local printer, a dialog box appears. Click 'yes' to print the document stored in the printer spool.
